Fairfax – Edith R. Roberge, 78, died Saturday February 11, 2006 at the Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington, with her loving family by her side.  She was honest, open and forthright.  Her kind-spirited and helpful nature touched many lives in more ways than she ever realized.  She was straightforward and genuine, and trusting in her relationships with others.

Mom was a caring and loving person, who enjoyed family gatherings, playing Skip-Bo with her children and grandchildren, gardening and attending old time fiddler's contest with her husband and best friend, Elodien. .  Mom, you will live forever in our hearts spirit and your love will continue to inspire and guide us.

Gram gave the warmest hugs, and regardless of our faults, loved us even more.

Edith was born at home in Underhill Center on November 24, 1927, the daughter of Ralph and Gertrude ( King ) Burns.
  
She was valedictorian of the  Underhill High School Class of 1945, and attended UVM.

On May 12, 1947, she married Elodien Roberge in St. Thomas Catholic Church in Underhill Center.
  
She was married to Elodien, who survived her, for over 58 years.  She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who will be dearly missed.

She will be dearly missed by her children, Francis “Robie” (Linda) Roberge  of Lovington, NM., Marie (Leo) Grenon of Burlington, Louis (Deborah) Roberge of Sheldon Springs, Leo Roberge of St. Albans, Albert “Joe” Roberge of Alburg, Lori (Kevin) Parker of Pocatello, Idaho, Patrick Roberge of Fairfax, and Michelle (Ricky) Jones of Fairfax, by 19 grandchildren, and 19 great grandchildren, by her brothers and sister Roland (Betty) Burns of Buffalo, NY.,  Ella Wheeler of Jericho, Alfred (Linda) Burns  of Burlington, by her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Claude Roberge of Milton, Jeanine Giles of Newark, Norman and Lisette Roberge  of Underhill and Guy and Patricia Roberge of Fairfield.

She was predeceased by her brothers George King, Raymond Burns, and Robert Burns.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. John Feltz on Wednesday, February 15, 2006 at 11 am in St. Ann Catholic Church in Milton.  Burial will follow in St. Ann’s Cemetery.  

No visiting hours at Edith’s request.

Arrangements are by the Minor Funeral Home in Milton.
