ST. ALBANS CITY — If Americans voted for their mayors based strictly on heart, Michael Thomas might be the most famous mayor in the United States.
Yet Thomas, 42, has never held political office, even though he's run for mayor of St. Albans City three times: in 2002, in 2004, and in 2006. And now, he's running again.
Despite placing far behind the favorites in each contest - former mayor Peter DesLauriers (twice) and then incumbent Mayor Marty Manahan - Thomas has submitted another petition and taken a fourth chance at nabbing the city's top elected post.
This underdog just won't stop barking.
"The way I look at it, I'm going to give it my best shot," Thomas said Monday, just hours after he filed his petition at city hall. "I think I'm going to do very well."
