Marjorie Dunlavey
(November 30, 1926 - February 14, 2010)


RICHFORD – Marjorie Celina (Benoit)Dunlavey, age 83, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday morning February 14, 2010 surrounded by her family.

She was born November 30, 1926 in Frelighsburg, Quebec Canada the daughter of the late Joseph & Glenna (Longley) Benoit.
Marjorie’s life in farming started at an early age. She worked in the fields alongside her father as a child and with her husband after she was married. Marjorie married Lorne Louis Dunlavey on June 15, 1945. Marjorie and Lorne began their farming career in West Shefford, Quebec in 1948 where they resided until 1963, when they moved to Richford and purchased the Pinnacle View Farm and continued to reside there after retiring from farming in 1989. She especially enjoyed working with the heavy equipment, and took great pride in mowing her lawn. Lorne preceded Marjorie to our Lord on March 23, 2001.

Early on in their marriage, Marjorie and Lorne had the opportunity to travel, visiting France, Spain & Morocco. She enjoyed playing BINGO and was an avid card player, especially fond of the games played around the dining room table with her family. She also had many memories of bartending with Annie Lavallee at Roger’s Grill.

Marjorie leaves behind 5 children and their spouses, Diane & James Galfetti of Barre, Dennis & Irene Dunlavey of Sheldon, Linda & Thomas Marrs of Oak Harbor, WA, Louis & Debbie Dunlavey of Ocala, FL, and Rick Dunlavey and his fiancé, Hellen Bard of Craftsbury; her grandchildren, Lorna Meunier and her husband Jay, Jennifer DiNatali and her husband Mark, Michelle Wakerly and her husband Lee, Kristine Chatterton and her husband Stephen, Joe Dunlavey, T.J. Marrs, Tucker Dunlavey and his wife Maria, Teresa Sapp and her husband Paul, and Brandy Wiley and her husband Sean; great grandchildren, Justin Underwood, Jason Underwood, Emmerson Chatterton, Casidy Wiley, Taylor Wiley, Ruth Wiley, Reese Wiley and Elijah Dunlavey; 3 sisters-in-law, Patricia Dunlavey of Bromont, Que., Phyllis Farrell of Jericho, and Rita Wade of St. Albans; several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents & husband, Marjorie was predeceased by a brother, Clifton Benoit; a sister, Beatrice McGrath; and a brother-in-law, Norbert Dunlavey.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 20, 2010 at 11:00 AM at All Saints Catholic Church in Richford with Rev. Karl Hahr celebrating the Mass of Christian burial. Interment will follow in St. Francois Xavier Cemetery in Bromont, Que. Canada.

Visiting hours will be held Friday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls.

Marjorie’s family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the staff of the Northwestern Medical Center and the Franklin County Home Health Agency for the loving care of their mother during their difficult time.
