Hi All,

I received the following note from our daughter Sharon who lives in Hampton, New Hampshire who had a very close friend die from Breast Cancer a while back:

Hi Dad - below is the e-mail (and the attached donation form) I've been sending out to collect sponsors for my participation in the 3-day. If you are willing could you pass this on through you newsletter.

Love,
Sharon

Hi All,

This year, in memory of my friend Tara, I'll be participating in a very special event called the Boston Breast Cancer 3-Day on August 4th through the 6th. My friend Tara battled breast cancer for almost 3 years and if she'd survived this is the type of event she would have wanted to participate in - so with each step I take during those 3 days I will think of how she struggled and hope that my participation will make a difference.

I'll walk 60 miles over the course of three days with thousands of other women and men. The net proceeds will support breast cancer research, education, screening and treatment through the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation and the National Philanthropic Trust Breast Cancer Fund.

I've agreed to raise at least $2,200 in donations, so I need your help. Would you please consider making a donation? Please take a look at the attached donation form, or visit my website at http://www.the3day.org/Boston06/SharonRaymond and designate the amount that's right for you. Please keep in mind how far I'm walking -- and how hard I'll have to train (considering the recent weather, I am very thankful for treadmills!).

According to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, approximately 200,000 American women will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year, and nearly 40,000 will die from the disease. I've lost one very good friend to this disease and that's why I'm walking so far. To do something bold about breast cancer with a goal that someday it will be eradicated. I hope that you'll share this incredible adventure with me -- by supporting me in my fundraising efforts.

Thank you in advance for your generosity!

Sincerely,

Sharon
