RICKMAN, Tenn. / FAIRFAX, Vt. - Allen L. Poulin II, age 44, died unexpectedly on Monday, Oct. 4, 2010.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 9, 2010, at Crest Lawn Funeral Home, 800 West Jackson St., Cookeville, Tenn. Friends may call at the Funeral Home from 10 a.m. until the service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to: www.woundedwarriorproject.com.

Allen was born in Barre on May 28, 1966, the son of Allen L. Poulin, and his wife, Betty, from Fletcher, and Joyce Collier and her husband, Chuck, of Cookville, Tenn. Allen graduated from BFA-Fairfax High School in 1984. In 1985, he enlisted in the Army and served his country with distinction until his retirement in 2006. He served multiple tours in Iraq as a crew chief on a Blackhawk helicopter; he was an Airborne Ranger and served a short tour as a recruiter.

Allen was an Eagle Scout, something he was very proud of. He had an amazing smile and an infectious laugh. He cared deeply for anyone he called family. That could be his immediate family or the men and women he served with. Once you were in his circle, you knew he would take care of you.

Allen is survived by his son, Shannon Poulin of Ohio; two daughters, Chelsea and Brianna Poulin of Tennessee; and grandson, Mykiah of Ohio; one brother, Lance Poulin and his fiancé, Jennifer Swartz, of Belvedere; three stepbrothers, Larry and Denise Cota, Steve and Linda Cota, Michael and Barb Cota; a stepsister, Sue and Rob Ovitt; his nieces and nephews: Ben, Beth, Chris, Emily, Curt, Naomi, Josh, Nate, Jake, Kyle, Cody, and Cole; his uncle, Sonny and Ann Poulin of Tennessee; and his two cousins, Jean Kleptz and family of Jericho, and Lisa Poulin of Florida.

Online condolences can be made at: www.crestlawnmemorial.com.

Henry      As with many others in the Fairfax Community and among the BFA Alumni , I was extremely shocked to read about Allen's unexpected demise. My sympathy to his family that I knew , including Betty & Al, Lance, Larry , Steve & Susie , and to those family members that I either can't remember or didn't know.
Allen , as I remember , was one of the most honest and truthful individuals that I have ever encountered , and was very loyal to his friends , family and his school. Growing up in Fairfax has , and had , some real advantages , but it also comes with some great pressures , which he handled well.  I remember his laugh, sense of humor and his willingness to serve , as shown by his military experience. I know my life was all the better having known him for the brief time that I did.
