ROBERT R.J. MCGREGOR SR.


WINOOSKI/SOUTH BURLINGTON - Robert R.J. McGregor Sr., 74, died peacefully in the Vermont Respite House with family by his side, and went to Heaven to join his wife, Audrey, on Saturday, Dec. 4, 2010. Robert was born in Burlington on Feb. 4, 1936, the son of George McGregor Sr. and Edith (Rubyor) McGregor. He was a graduate of Mount Assumption Institute in New York, and attended the University of Vermont. He was married on April 23, 1955 to Audrey (Hickey) McGregor at St. Stephen's Church, who predeceased him on March 1, 1990. Bob was 2nd generation pharmacy owner of McGregor's Pharmacies and operated several other pharmacies. Dad was very committed to practice of pharmacy and patient care. He was active in the community including the Model Cities Committee of Winooski. He was a member of the Eagles Club and the Elks, and was a past- president of the Junior Jaycees. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, shooting pool, playing cards and spending time with his grandchildren. Bob is survived by his five children, Anne L. McGregor and Duane E. Parizo of Winooski, Robert R.J. McGregor Jr. and Cynthia Parker of South Burlington, Audrey McGregor-Reardon and her husband, Thomas Reardon, of St. Albans, Allison Quesnel and her husband, Marcel, of Ocala, Fla., and Richard McGregor and his wife, Theresa, of Fairfax; grandchildren, Heidi Granger and Giles Wagoner of Burlington, Matthew Reardon of Winooski, and Amanda Reardon of St. Albans, Tarah McGregor and Troy Hubbard of the Virgin Islands, and Keith McGregor and his fiancé, Stephanie Danfield, of Winooski, Ashley and Thomas Deliozer of Pennsylvania, and Audrey and Ashley Quesnel of Florida, Andrea and Evan McGregor of Fairfax; great-grandchildren, Tyler Anne and Oceana Reardon, and Ella Deliozer Parker. He is also survived by his sisters, Dorothy M. Fausel and husband, Edward, both pharmacists of Essex Ctr., and Mary M. Patnaude of Colchester; his brothers, Retired Lieutenant Colonel Peter J. McGregor and wife, Sing Xin Song, of Colorado Springs, Colo., and James P. McGregor and wife, Cathy, of Enosburg Falls; his aunt, Edna Parrott of Florida and South Hero; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his brothers, George R. McGregor Jr., and Thomas E. McGregor, Sr. RPH; and infant brothers, Joseph, Frank, and Michael; infant sister, Anne; and infant granddaughter, Elizabeth Anne Quesnel. The McGregor family wishes to offer their sincere gratitude to Dr. John Fitzgerald whom Dad thought the world of and his wonderful staff, to Dr. Mildred Reardon for her time, patience and understanding and all of the other physicians who provided Dad's care, to the Visiting Nurses Association and his Hospice Nurse Mary. A special thanks to the Vermont Respite House and staff for their special care and kindness which allowed Dad to pass with dignity and respect. A Roman Catholic mass will be celebrated on Saturday, Dec. 11 at 11 a.m. at St. Stephen's Catholic Church in Winooski. Per Dad's wishes there will be no visiting hours. Memorial contributions may be made to the Vermont Respite House, the Visiting Nurses Association, or the Albany School of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. Arrangements are with the LaVigne Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 132 Main St. in Winooski.
