Well, last night I discovered that all the rain the other day, coupled with some rapidly falling temperatures was not ideal for putting the key into my garage door entrance.  Fortunately I had my garage door entrance unlocked, but had forgotten that and when I went out to go down to the village, found that I could not put my key in the lock.  Thank God I was able to get in the garage as the only other entrance is with the garage door opener which is usually in the car.

I tried using some WD40, but that didn't work.  It was pretty close to zero out there, so I did the next best thing. I put my garage door opener in my pocket and decided I would work on it this morning.  Mary Kay's friend Rich came over to check on me a while later and I told him what happened.  He got a Phillips screw driver and removed the lock and brought it in the house and used a pointed tool to click the tumblers.  I had some 3 in 1 oil and we used some of that and finally got it to working and he reinstalled it.

I had intended to use Maryann's Hair Dryer, which has usually worked in the past.  Oh well, maybe it won't happen again.  I still don't understand how the water gets in there, but apparently it does.

I usually go around and put some 3 in 1 oil on the key and make sure the keys work freely.  Think I might best do that today on the other locks.

Henry, if you ever get locked out again let me know and I'll come over with my sawzall.  Or for that matter, call the Fire Dept.  They've got some REALLY cool tools!
