Robert Lee Meunier, age 72 years, a longtime Saint Albans resident and more recently of Swanton died peacefully Saturday afternoon March 5, 2011, at the home of his daughter Laurie in Swanton Village.

Born in Enosburgh, Vermont on June 13, 1938, he was the son of the late Edward and Helen (Warren) Meunier and was a graduate of Bellows Free Academy- Fairfax. He was employed for many years with Pierce’s Pallet Mill in Georgia. His hobbies included NASCAR racing and in earlier years woodworking.

Robert leaves his five children and their spouses, Lisa and Richard Taylor of Swanton, Laurie Meunier and Gary Pilbin of Swanton, Robert and JoAnn Meunier of Saint Albans; Wendy and Mike Oddy of Swanton and Rachel Meunier of Highgate; six grandchildren, Heather Taylor, Rickie Savage, Jr., Josh Oddy, Britny Franolich, Joylne Franolich and Dylan Franolich; three great grandchildren, Briana, Dominyk and Jake Savage; a sister Pauline Coe and her husband Richard of Enosburgh and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents Robert was predeceased by an infant sister, Beverly and a brother, Edward Meunier.

A Funeral Service will be held Tuesday March 8, 2011, at 11 a.m. from The Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Avenue, Swanton. The Reverend Anne Torrance Bachmann will officiate. Entombment will follow at Saint Mary’s Cemetery to await spring interment in Sanderson Corner’s Cemetery Fairfax. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday morning from 10 a.m. until the hour of the funeral. Gifts in Robert’s memory may be made to the, American Cancer Society, 55 Day Lane, Williston 05495.
