Yvan R. J. Langelier

Fairfax - Yvan Raoul Joseph Langelier, 86, went to join his wife Marie in eternal rest on Wednesday, May 18, 2011, with his loving family at his side.

Yvan was born March 24, 1925 in St. Rosalie, Quebec, to the late George and Rosiane (Charron) Langelier.  In his younger years, Yvan worked as a farmer, sugarmaker, and logger in Canada, before moving to the U.S. to farm, which was his true passion.  He worked as a farmhand for 7 years before buying his own farm in Fairfax, which he operated for over 50 years.  He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, playing cards, and visiting with family and friends.

He leaves his son Paul and wife Karen, and grandchildren Joshua & wife Jennifer, Kaitlin, Jacob, Benjamin, Joseph, and Luke, all of Fairfax.  He also leaves his sister and brothers, Lucie & Dosylva Larose, Ernest & Laurette Langelier, Rev. Germain Langelier, Leon and Felicienne Langelier, Rejean & Cecile Langelier, Maurice and Rita Langelier; and sisters-in-law Jeannine Langelier and Dolores Langelier, all of Canada.  He also leaves his brothers and sisters-in-law, Fernande Tougas, Laurent & Lillian Rainville, Jean Louis and Cecile Rainville, Paul and Lillian Rainville, Imelda and John Tougas, Therese Paquette, Jean Guy and Fernande Rainville, and Gilles and Claudette Rainville, and many nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his wife, Marie Paule, brothers Fernand, Paul Emile, and Rosaire, sister-in-law Lucienne Langelier, and brothers-in-law Gaston, Robert, Bernard & Harvey Rainville, Rosaire Tougas, Paul Quintin, and Maurice Paquette; and sister-in-law Madeleine Quintin.

We would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Marco and all the nurses and staff at St. Albans Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center for the excellent care they gave Dad and also to all his family and friends who spent time with him during the last few months.

Visiting hours will be held Sunday May 22, 2011 from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m. at A. W. Rich Funeral Home – Fairfax Chapel.  A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday May, 23, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Luke’s Catholic Church, Fairfax with the reverend Julian Asucan officiating.  Inurnment will be private and at the convenience of the family.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Luke’s Memorial Fund, PO Box 7, Fairfax, Vermont 05454, or Fairfax Rescue, P. O. Box 228, Fairfax, VT 05454.  Arrangements are by John D. Workman, A. W. Rich Funeral Home – Fairfax Chapel, 1176 Main Street, Fairfax, VT 05454.  The family invites you to share your memories and online condolences by visiting www.awrichfuneralhomes.com
