Got a shot in my lower spine last January and it held out pretty well until a month ago - Hopefully this will do the trick for at least another 6 months - Mary Kay is bringing me down and back as I can't drive after I have it, but should be back to normal or hopefully better tomorrow.

The shot I had Monday seems to be working well - I can get another one in 3 months if needed, but want to hold off if I can for 6 to 8 months - Its a relief not to have to use the cane as much, but for safety's sake when winter comes I most likely will use it with the spike so I don't slip and fall - Headed back to the Gym today.

Hi Ed,

Thanks, I brought my trash out this morning and forgot to tie it.  I only have one bag and some papers spilled out and blew across the lawn.  Luckily, my daughter is next door and I didn't try to chase after it.  I know she won't complain on her Dad.

I have a spinal fusion and sympathize with your pain. The shots never worked for me, so I went to the next step.

Henry, They want me to get the shot in my lower spine to. I am nervous about it. What can I expect the day of? I have read it does affect the adrenal gland and causes nervousness. I am a nervous person in the beginning.

I go to Dr. Tarver.  He is excellent and you lay on your stomach on a table and they use an xray machine to determine where he wants to give you the shot.  He numbs you and you only feel a little tingle.  When he inserts the stuff, you feel some pressure, but no pain.

Maryann did go to St. Albans once and got hers there before she went to Dr. Tarver and had terrible pain when they were doing that, so I would say, it all depends who is giving you the shot.  If you go to Dr. Tarver, I wouldn't worry about any pain.  You will need a driver as they won't allow you to drive.  If you have the pain in the lower back you don't have to go without eating, but in the upper back you do.  No aspirin for a week before the shot, however, they do allow me to take the one 325 mg aspirin in the morning because of the stents.  The aspirin is to prevent clots for me in the stents and they insist I take one 325 mg aspirin a day.

Dr. Tarver's office is located on Water Tower Hill opposite side of the road from Costco near FOX Studios.

Dr. Tarver is the guy to go to for these shots.  I as well go there and he does an excellent job.  You need to rest that day after the shot and no driving until the next day.  I recommend icing the area when you get home.  It has done wonders for me.
