SUMMARY OF CRASH:
The Vermont State Police responded to River Street in Richford for a mutli-
vehicle crash.  A tractor trailer unit operated by Kevin Higgs of Salem NY was
stuck in the roadway because it had lost traction on the icy road.  A vehicle
operated by Paul Cassar of Montreal rounded the corner at River Street and
Eastern Avenue and lost control.  His vehicle collided with the tractor trailer
unit.  Immediately after this crash a car operated by James Duffin crashed into
5 River Street trying to avoid the crash in the roadway.  A fourth vehicle
operated by Deborah Richert then crashed into 1 River Street after it lost
control on the same icy curve.  The road conditions are considered to be a
factor in this crash, speed did not appear to be an issue.

US Border Patrol assisted the State Police with this crash.

There were no reported injures and the damage to the buildings was not extensive
the owners were in the process of assessing the repair needs.
