CAMBRIDGE — Robert Vernon Davis, 50, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer, at his home in Cambridge, on Sunday, July 7, 2013, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Newport on May 4, 1963, son of Landon and Jeannette (Messier) Davis. In 1982, Robert graduated from Guilderland High School in Guilderland Center, N.Y. Soon after graduation, he met the love of his life, Linda Lehouiller, on a blind date. They later were married on June 1, 1985, and then settled in Cambridge. Robert began his successful career with Snap-On Tools, and later, while raising two wonderful children, Bradford Michael and Ericka Jeanne, he owned and operated Fine Line Power Sports with Linda until 2001. Robert continued working in the power sports field until he recently found his passion for teaching students Power Sports technology at Green Mountain Technical Career Center in Hyde Park.

Robert loved life and his true passion was his family. He teamed with his son, Bradford, for over nine years traveling throughout New England, competing in snowcross races. He treasured watching his daughter, Ericka, play soccer and never missed a game from her youth through her collegiate career.

Robert was an avid mountain and road cyclist, snowboarder, and snowmobiler. He especially enjoyed these activities with Linda, their kids, and all of their friends. When not traveling with his children, Robert could be found on his tractor, drag racing, barbequing, playing cards and Tuck, or building his outdoor patio oasis in which his family and friends could gather. Robert always opened his home to anyone with a welcoming smile and warm laugh.

He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Linda, daughter of John and Aline (Lavigne) Lehouiller; his children, Bradford Michael and Ericka Jeanne; his parents, Landon and Jeannette (Messier) Davis of Cambridge, N.Y.; his siblings, Alan and Astrid Davis of Cambridge, N.Y., Carol and Robert Mitchell of Schenectady, N.Y., Brenda and Peter Fish of Castleton-on-Hudson, N.Y., and Douglas Davis of Shushan, N.Y.; as well as many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Lamoille County Cancer, VNA and Hospice for providing care to Robert.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, July 12, 2013, from 2 to 4 p .m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at A. W. Rich Funeral Home, 1176 Main St., Fairfax, VT 05454. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, July 13, 2013, at 11 a.m. at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Fairfax with Reverend John Feltz officiating. Join the family and celebrate Robert’s love of life afterwards at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Cambridge.

Memorial contributions in Bob’s memory may be made to The Lamoille Area Cancer Network, P.O. Box 38, Lake Elmore, VT 05657. The family invites you to share your memories and condolences by visiting www.awrfh.com.
