RAYMOND P. BERNIER
(NOVEMBER 6, 1944 - MAY 24, 2014Milton - Raymond P. Bernier, 69, died after a fierce battle with Lung Cancer on Saturday May 24, 2014 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Ray was born in Bristol, CT on November 6, 1944, the son of Raymond T. and Cecile (Robidoux) Bernier. Raymond attended St. Michaels College and served in the U.S. Air Force stationed at Osan Air Base in Southern Korea and in Texas. Raymond had diverse interests and was always up for a challenge. He was an electrician by trade, a carpenter, a horse stable owner, horse breeder; raised emu's and most of all Ray loved being a farmer. Raymond's family would affectionately say if you wanted it done the “Right Way”, it had to be done the “Ray Way”. He was happiest haying with his John Deere equipment. Raymond was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Milton. He served on the Parish Council in Fairfax. Ray volunteered for several years for the Milton Meals on Wheels Program. Raymond was a lifelong Red Sox fan and received special greetings from the NESN announcers just this month. Raymond is survived by his wife Judy of Milton and by their children LaLaneya O'Farrell and husband Liam of So. Burlington, Lisa Bernier and partner Charlie Haglund of Colchester, David Bell and partner Benjamin Bassuk of Fl., Ray “Reb” Bernier of Milton, Denise Hollinger and husband Matthew of Burlington, Katie Lynch and husband Jason of North Hero. He leaves his grandchildren Shaun, Heather, Alyssa, Samantha, Savanah, Molly, Jacob, Charlize, Cecileya, Hunter, Nathan, Madysen, Daniel, Kelsey, Maggie, Abbie, Andrew and Jessica who will miss their Papa. Raymond is also survived by his sisters and brothers Louise Keenan and partner David Brooks of SC, Susan Gregg and husband Bentley of VA, Ann Mittelstadt and partner John Hartigan of Bakersfield, Robert Bernier and wife Darla of South Burlington and Michael Bernier of CA and by several nieces and nephews. Raymond also leaves a group of special friends, Marcel and Mary Jane Lemay, John Hayes, Lavera Allen, Sid and Susan Reynolds. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Betsy our VNA Nurse as well as the many family and friends that provided loving support to all of us. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday May 30, 2014 at 11am in St. Ann Catholic Church in Milton. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery in St. Albans. A luncheon will be provided at St. Ann's by the Ladies of St. Ann's. Memorial contributions in Ray's memory may be made to the American Lung Assoc., 372 Hurricane Lane, Suite 101, Williston, VT 05495. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday May 29, 2014 from 2-4, with prayers offered at 4pm by Fr. Feltz, and 7-9pm in the Minor Funeral and Cremation Center in Milton.
