Mr. Howard Maynard Ward, age 77, died January 9, 2015 at the University of Vermont Medical Center. He was born December 10, 1937 in St. Albans, the son of the late Harold “Bubby” and Phyllis (Menard) Ward. He graduated from BFA, in St. Albans, with the class of 1955. He enlisted in the US Army, and served from 1955 to 1958. He lived his entire life in Sheldon Springs. For many years he lived with his partner Charlotte Bergeron. He worked at the Sheldon Springs Paper Mill until his retirement in 2000. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time at deer camp with friends. His passion was playing Cribbage, playing pull tickets at the American Legion, and other numerous games of chance. He also enjoyed family barbeques. He will be remembered as quick witted, humorous, and generous to many charities.

Howard was a member of the American Legion Post #42 in Enosburgh, the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge #1566, and the National Rifle Association.

Howard is survived by his daughter Sarah Weatherwax and her husband Jesse and his grandchildren Breanne Root and Kyra Weatherwax all of Enosburgh. He also leaves his sister Frances Boucher and her husband Steve of Mesa, AZ., his sister-in-law Christine Ward, Charlotte’s children Tracie Perry and Leonard Ostrout, several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Howard was predeceased by his parents, his brothers, Carleton, Donald, and Alan Ward, a nephew Bruce Ward, Charlotte’s son Robert Perry, and special friend Richard “Dickie” Churchill.

At Howard’s request, there will be no calling hours. Interment will be held this spring in Greenwood Cemetery with his parents. Online condolences may be sent to Howard’s family at the Brady & Levesque Funeral Home website: www.bradyandlevesque.com. Memorials may be made in his memory to the Franklin County Humane Society, 30 Sunset Meadow, St. Albans, VT 05478. Arrangements are entrusted to the Brady & Levesque Funeral Home and Commemorative Services.
