RICHFORD – Mark D. Ovitt, age 63, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, February 14, 2015 with his wife by his side at the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington.

He was born in St. Albans on May 19, 1951 the son of the late Derrell & Alice (Davis) Ovitt Marcotte.

Mark was a graduate of B.F.A. Fairfax class of 1970. After high school he married the love of his life Laura Cutting on December 5, 1975. They made their home in St. Albans for several years before relocating to Richford in 1990. Mark spent time working as the building trades instructor at the Cold Hollow Career Center in Enosburg Falls and also in the public works department for the Town of Richford. Mark truly enjoyed life and was a member of the Free and Accepted Masons Lamoille Lodge #6 of Fairfax and the Order of the Eastern Star Martha Washington Chapter.

He is survived by his wife and best friend, Laura Ovitt of Richford, his siblings, Kathleen Upton of Wallingford, Michael & Marge Ovitt of Burlington, Craig & Terri Ovitt of Ausable Forks, NY and Audrey & Dan Malaney of Fairfax; sisters-in-law, Nancy Ovitt of North Carolina, Vera & John Buttles of Milton and Sandra Cutting of Fairfax; brother-in-law, Gerald Desso of Essex Jct. and several nieces & nephews. Besides his parents, Mark was predeceased by his brother, Randall Ovitt; brothers-in-law, Dr. Peter Upton and Ronald Cutting; sister-in-law, Lillian Desso and mother and father in-law, Waldo & Norma Cutting.

A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2015 at 2:00 PM at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls, VT with Rev. Lyle Willey officiating.

A reception will be held at the Spears Funeral Home immediately following the service.
