CLAYTON WYCKOFFCLAYTON WYCKOFF - GRAND ISLE - On July 10, 2015, Clay Wyckoff, 23, beloved son of John and Penny Wyckoff (Van Amerongen), of Grand Isle, passed away. He was born Feb. 10, 1992, in Charlottesville, Va. Clay graduated from Essex High School in 2010, attended ATI, CCV, and studied hard and completed his NASM personal trainer certification. He most recently was a personal trainer at The Edge, a Service tech at Auto Master, and was just hired at IBM/Global Foundries. Clay will be remembered for his large tender heart, his fabulous smile, and how he could chat to anyone about anything. As a child at the beach, he would often wander off and find new families to bond with, he just loved to chat. Clay was a Life Scout and attended the High Adventure camps, Philmont and Northern Tier, with his dad and VA Boy Scout troop 982. Clay loved the outdoors; he enjoyed biology, botany, and hiking Mount Mansfield with his dog, Maddie. He was concerned about the environment and has numerous trees spouting up on our back porch; we will do our best Clay to grow them to maturity and plant them in your honor. Clay enjoyed working out at The Edge and assisting others with their personal fitness goals. He recently became a vegetarian and was whipping up all sorts of interesting concoctions in the kitchen. He researched and planted a hops field that we will carry on tending in his honor; the hops poles he installed are as tall as his hopes for success. Clay leaves behind his sister, Dayna; his brother, Nicholas; his beloved dog, Maddie; his second mother, Paula Clagett of Leesburg, Va.; second sister, Tiffany Rushin of South Carolina; grandfather, Stan Wyckoff of Mississippi; grandmother, JoAnn Wyckoff; Uncle Larry and Aunt Sue Wyckoff; Uncle Tom Wyckoff, all of Jeffersonville; Aunt Susi Wyckoff of Burlington; Uncle Bill and Aunt Anne Marie Wyckoff of Thousand Oaks, Calif.; Aunt Cilla and Uncle Steve Baker; Uncle Karl Van Amerongen, all of Essex; and many, many cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his twin sisters, Carly and Cathie; maternal grandparents; and his Aunt Pattie Van Amerongen. There by the grace of God go I. We love you Clay; your passing leaves such a massive hole in our hearts that we fear it will never be repaired. A Celebration of Clay's Life will be held on Wednesday, July 15, 2015, at 2 p.m. in the Minor Funeral Home, Route 7 in Milton. His family will receive friends in the funeral home from 1 p.m. until the hour of the service.
