Dan was a 1957 graduate of Bellows Free Academy and then began a 42 year career with the former Fonda Container Corporation. He was an avid Yankees and Cowboys fan and especially enjoyed his travels to Wells Beach, Maine and to the Akwesasne Mohawk Casino in Hogansburg, New York. His greatest enjoyment was being with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Katherine (Putnam) Morton of St. Albans; his children, Maureen and William Bosley and their children, Talia, Tess and Chase of Nyack, NY, Colleen and Doug McSweeney and their children, Siobhan and Fiona of Colchester, Eric and Lisa Morton and their children, Liam and Maia of St. Albans and Shealeen and Billy Bratcher and their children, Calvin and Ruby of Burlington. Dan is also survived by a brother, Richard Morton of Louisiana.

In addition to his parents, Dan was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Fran Larocque and Margaret “Sue” Raine.

Dan’s family will receive friends on Saturday, October 10, 2015, at 1:00 PM at Twiggs, 24 North Main Street, St. Albans. Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of his family.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Dan’s memory may be made to the Franklin County Animal Rescue, 30 Sunset Meadows, St. Albans, VT 05478 or the St. Albans Free Library, 11 Maiden Lane, St. Albans, VT 05478. Messages of condolence to Dan’s family are welcome at www.healdfuneralhome.com.
