Emily M. (Rascoe) Moon

Fairfax - Emily Marie (Rascoe) Moon, age 75, died suddenly, with her family around her, on December 27, 2016, at Northwest Medical Center, St. Albans, VT.

Emily was born in Burlington on September 27, 1941, to Marie (Meunièr) and Ernest Rascoe, who have predeceased her.  ‘Bunny’ as her dad affectionately called her has left four daughters, of whom she was very proud.  Michelle Patno, of Burlington, Debra Gaylord of Waterbury, Kelly Francis and her husband Dan of Milton and Leslie Slingerland and her partner, Jim Davis of Fletcher. Emily also leaves behind nine grandchildren whom she adored.  Stephanie Patno Tourville and her husband Aaron, Benjamin Patno and his wife Sonja, Alyssa Ashley, Kiley Ashley, Julia Slingerland, Camrynn Slingerland, Dan O’Shaughnessy, Olivia White, and Olivia Knudsen.  Emily also leaves behind her brother Lee Rascoe of Colchester and her sister Cheryl Gouchoe and her husband Frank of Charlotte.  As well as her parents, Emily was predeceased by her spouses, David Moon, Wendell Machia and Richard Sears as well as her brother, Larry Rascoe.

She leaves behind her life long friend, Barbara Kelley of Burlington and many friends in Fairfax as she was a member of the Fairfax Senior Center.  Emily always loved her animals and leaves behind Harley and Bella, her most recent canine companions.  There are many friends, acquaintances and family members that are and have been closely connected to her after 75 years of living in Vermont,  that are too numerous to mention in this limited review of her life.

Emily retired from Urology Associates, Inc. where she spent many years managing their medical office.  She had a brilliant mind for details and excelled in the field of business and medical management.  Each of her daughter's is gifted with her brilliance in each of their chosen professions.

Em was most happy and delighted when she was with her family or reading a book. In her home, her walls are full of pictures of her daughter's and grandchildren and every shelf and surface is covered with books. She loved chocolate, roses, and spring.  Her motto in life was always ‘I did the best I knew how’ and yes, she did.  In everything she did, she was always doing her best.  In the past year as she faced some serious health concerns, she was most pleased with how her daughter's and their spouses/partners,  her sister and her close friends in Fairfax came together to help and support her.

Emily has chosen A.W. Rich Funeral Home on Main Street in Fairfax to take care of her final arrangements.  On Monday January 2, 2017, from 2-4 p.m. her family will be welcoming visitors there.  On Tuesday, January 3, 2017, at 11:00 a.m., Emily’s funeral will be held at St. Luke’s Church, 17 Huntville Road, Fairfax, with burial in St. Luke’s cemetery next to her husband David Moon.  A reception at the church will follow the burial.  In lieu of flowers, please feel free to make donations in Emily’s memory to Franklin County Humane Society, 30 Sunset Meadows, St. Albans, VT. 05478.  The family also invites you to share your memories and condolences by visiting www.awrfh.com
