Lucien Israel Hebert, 89, of Shelburne passed away on February 15, 2017, surrounded by family.

Lucien was born in Racine, Quebec on July 12, 1927 to Alfred and Aurore (Lefreniere) Hebert.

He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Claire (Trank) Hebert and six children: Collette Hebert, Patty Burritt, Annette Hebert, Eileen and John Wood, Mark and Carrie Hebert and Alison and Andy Simmons. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren: Matthew (Melissa), Timothy (Breeanna), Stephanie, John, Michael (Kayla), Jessica, Victoria, Shane, Nathan and Shannon (Alexis). He is also survived by 3 great-grandchildren, Silas, Eleanor and Jenna.

Lucien is also survived by his sisters Beatrice Turner (Gary Lewis) and Juliette Noonan (Chuck Bentley) and one brother, Albert Hebert (Betty), two sisters-in-law Theresa King and Dolores Trank, one brother-in-law, Russell Goodsell and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents and siblings, Lillian Cross, Evelyn Davis, Raymond Hebert, Laurent Hebert, Sylvia Goodsell, Laura Becker, Vivian Kane, and his grandson Zachary Simmons.

Lucien was born into a large family that operated a farm in Fairfax, VT for many years. He attended BFA Fairfax. Lucien served in WWII in Germany.

Lucien and Claire were married in August, 1958 and lived the last 50 years in Shelburne. He and Claire enjoyed square dancing, camping, gardening, and being with family. He worked as a Union plumber for over 35 years. After that he worked for Marcotte Appliances and the Town of Shelburne for several years. He was strong in his faith and served as an usher at St Catherine for many years.

Visiting hours will be 3:00-6:00 pm on Sunday, February 19, at Corbin and Palmer at 209 Falls Rd, Shelburne, VT. A rosary will be led by Monsignor DeForge at 3:00 pm.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, February 20th at St. Catherine of Siena Parish at 72 Church Street, Shelburne, VT. Interment in the spring.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the VNA Hospice Program at 1110 Prim Road, Colchester, VT, 05446 or to The American Cancer Society at 55 Day Lane, Williston, VT, 05495.

A special thanks to the staff from the Home Comfort Care of VNA Hospice Program who were so helpful and supportive.

The name sounded very familiar to me as I had heard Maryann talk about the Hebert family.  I sent a note to Steve Ratte and this is the information he gave me on the Hebert Farm:

Riverberry   Farm   is  the  former Hebert Farm.  Albert &  Sylvia Hebert were in my class.  They later sold & and 

took over the gas station that is now  Nans.

Sylvia married Russel Goodsell, Jr.  His parents along with Russell and Judy were our neighbors for years.  Actually they were one of the 3 homes on the our road.
