Hi All,

Well, recently bought a half gallon of ice cream at Hannafords - Check how many quarts are in this half gallon:

Now I was in grade school in the early 1940s and I could swear that back then, a half gallon was equal to two (2) quarts.

Oh well!!!  What do I know[/b]

According to Google, you are still correct.

You can type: 1/2 gallon in Quarts and it will display (1/2) US gallon = 2 US quarts

So my question is if the box of ice cream actually claims to be a half gallon or is it just your everyday 1.75 Qts container?

Actually the carton does not say 1/2 gallon.  You just make the assumption it is.  I did a check up at Minor's store to see if they had any ice cream that was in this size container, but theirs were all 1/2 gallon containers.  I will check the next time I am in Hannafords to see if it is only the store brand ice cream that is in that size container.

I know the price is cheaper, but want to check out to see if it indicates anywhere that it is less than 1/2 gallon
