Hi All,
Well, I woke up about 3 a.m. this morning to total darkness. Stumbled out to the kitchen and finally found a flashlight, then went out to the garage and got a couple of kerosene lamps and lit them to provide a little light to walk around - I called Vermont Electric and got the message that there were power outages in the Fairfax/Fletcher area and work crews had been dispatched and if I was calling to report an outage in a different area, to press 1.
I didn't start up my generator as I didn't need heat or sump pump service, so decided to wait it out. About 3:45, I noticed a vehicle with a flashing light going up and down the road and about 4:20 this morning, the lights came on.
Thought I would call Vermont Electric and check to see how widespread the outage was - The guy started off by telling me that it effected about 260 customers, then didn't know if he should divulge the information as to the cause of the outage, so he transferred me to the communications person who asked me to leave a voice mail since she was in Rutland today.
So, bottom line, I really don't know how long the power was out, or the reason why, but from the time I noticed it until it came back on it was only an hour and twenty minutes.
