Always read Mike Cain's blog in the morning, right after the obituaries in The Burlington Free Press.  I feel Mike and I have something in common - We are who we are and make no bones about it - No need of trying to pretend being someone you aren't.  This morning, Mike talks about getting a haircut - Now in my younger days here in town, Andy Rocheleau first had his barbershop in the Old Hardware Store Block at 2 Fletcher Road in the little one story part towards The Methodist Church in 1956 when he came to Fairfax and in later years moved down to the little building North of Vermont Food Ventures near the river, before he moved to Milton.  The barbershop was a place to gather, visit and catch up on the news around town and as such, you could never tell how many were waiting, so you would stick your head in the door and Andy would hold up so many fingers as to how many were actually waiting for a haircut.  I used to get my haircut every two weeks back then, however, a friend of mine used to get his haircut every week.  Now I go 8 weeks and still no one mentions that I should go get a haircut.  We used to pay about a dollar for a haircut, but the price has risen considerably since then.  Andy always used to drive a very nice car and we always kidded him about the price going up for a haircut as they always seemed to correlate with his trading cars.

Mike mentioned the fact that he hadn't gotten his haircut since before The Pie & Ice Cream Social last June.  God!! I hope I recognize him the next time I see him.  Mike always wears a cap, so he will apparently have to downsize now.  I wished I had known as I would have gone up and taken a photo of Mike getting a haircut.  I try to get photos of the different businesses in town and this would have been a good opportunity to go up to The Creative Edge.

By the way, my barber, Andy is now in his 80s, barbers part time in his Fairfax Street home in St. Albans and I have been going to him since he was a barber on Bank Street near Taylor Park in St. Albans in the 50s.  A while back, I had another customer take a picture of Andy cutting my hair and it was on the forum, but if you missed it or forgot it, click on the following link:
