Mr. Frank A. Austin, age 60, died Thursday evening, January 24, 2008, at his home, following a courageous battle with cancer, with his loving family at his bedside. Frank was born in New Haven, Ct., April 27, 1947. He served his country in the U. S. Army , in Vietnam. Frank was a Fire Commissioner for the City of Burlington and a Police Officer in Burlington for 12 years. From 1982 until 1994 he was Chief of Investigation for the State of Vermont Unemployment Fraud.

Frank was a member of the Vietnam Veterans Association, V. F. W. Post # 758, American Legion Post # 1, St.Albans Elks Lodge, B.P.O.E. # 1566.

Frank is survived by his special companion Virginia Richards of St. Albans, two daughters Stacey and her husband John Plankey of Fairfax, Courtney and her husband Chet Decker of Fargo, N. D., son Tyler Austin of Portland, Or., 4 grandchildren Brittney Merrihew, Jennifer Plankey, Nolan Decker and Brady Decker, brothers and sisters James Austin of Alburgh, Susan Morse of St. Albans, Brenda and Maurice Giroux of Ft. Lauderdale, Fl., Sharon and Andy Craig of Highgate, Avery and Joyce Austin of Sheldon, Ballard and Sandra Austin of Sheldon, Forrest and Sharon Austin of Sarasota, Fl., Marvin Austin of West Palm Beach, Fl., Mae and Osborne Beyor of Highgate, Carolyn and Gordon Boomhover of Fairfield, a sister-in-law Joyce Austin of Burlington, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother Beryl Johnson, sisters Sandra Austin, Shelby Thibault, brothers George Austin, II, and Randall Austin.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, Jan 31, at 11:00 A. M. in Holy Angels Church. Friends may call at the Brady & Levesque Funeral Home, 86 South Main St. from 6 to 9 Wednesday evening. The V. V. A. will meet at the funeral home at 8:00 P.M. for their funeral services. Memorials may be made to the V. V. A. , P. O. Box 965, St. Albans, Vt. 05478 or the Franklin County Home Health Agency, 3 Home Health Circle, St. Albans, Vt. 05478.
