ROBERT V. RICH FAIRFAX — Robert Vernon Rich, 83, passed away Friday, March 11, 2005, in Haven Health Care in St. Albans. He was born in Fairfax, Feb. 13, 1922, son of the late Bert and Rhoda (Learned) Rich. He served his country well as an aircraft mechanic with the U.S. Army during World War II. He then went on to form the union with Fonda Containers where he worked for many years as a machine operator. He was a member of the American Legion Post 1, St. Albans. He took great pride in being one of the original members of the Fairfax Fire Department. Robert will be greatly missed by all of those who had the true privilege to know and love him. He is survived by two stepsons, Kevin A. Bushey of Fairfax, and Michael Bushey and his wife Patricia of West Palm, Fla., and their family; his nieces, nephews and their families, Reggie and Pat Broe of Fairfax, Eleanor and John Cross, and Arlene Morgan of Fletcher, Geoff and Laurie Broe of Georgia, Greg Broe of Colchester, Gary “Sam“ and Ann Broe of Fletcher, Bert and Laurie Broe of Jeffersonville, Mike and Vicki Broe of Westford, Robert and Linda Howard of Fairfax, Linda and Richard McNall of Fairfax, Susan Flanders and Ed Lambert of Swanton, Beverly Carter of Coco Beach, Fla., Bert and Kathy Rich of Nashua, N.H., and Frank Rich of Juno, Alaska; several great- nieces and great-nephews; in- laws, Maynard and Rita Gosselin of St. Albans, and Norman and Carmen Gosselin of St. Albans; and “Duke,“ his favorite dog. He was predeceased by the love of his life and his lifelong companion, Leona “Lee“ Bushey; three brothers, Albert Rich, Carl Rich, and Hiram Rich; two sisters, Nellie Broe and Helen Howard. Visiting hours will be held Monday, March 14, from 5 to 8 p.m. in the A. W. Rich Funeral Home, Fairfax Chapel. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 15, at 1 p.m. in the United Church of Fairfax with the Rev. Elizabeth Griffin officiating. Internment will be in the family lot in the Sanderson Corners Cemetery in the spring. Memorial contributions may be made in Robert's memory to the American Heart Association, Vermont Affiliate Inc., 20 Speen St., Farmingham, Mass. 01701; or The American Diabetes Association, Vermont Affiliate Inc., 77 Hegeman Ave, Colchester, Vt. 05446.
