Hi All,

My daughter is down in the Keene, NH hospital and had surgery last Tuesday.  My daughter was telling me that she had tried to call home after the boys got home from school to see how they were doing, however, in order to do so she had to call collect.  Apparently the operator spoke very broken English (Maybe Verizon has outsourced the telephone operators?), so when my oldest grandson picked up the phone this man with a foreign accent asked him if he would accept a collect call from Lynn and if so to push 2.  Little Henry said "No" and hung up.

The operator went back to my daughter and said that a young person had answered the phone and wouldn't accept the charges, so she asked him to try again.  The operator tried again and then came back to my daughter and said that this time he was greeted with some language and a hangup.

A while later, my son-in-law called home to see how things were going and Little Henry told him, "Some idiot keeps calling on the phone and tells me to push 2 on the telephone."

My son-in-law then told him, "That was no idiot, that was your mother trying to call you."

His Dad then gave him his mother's phone number after which he promptly called her.

When our daughter called us collect from the hospital the other night, Maryann and I both said then that is is extremely rare now to receive a collect call like it was back in the old days.  Actually, I believe when I was in the hospital down in Burlington, that the hospital actually placed long distance calls on your hospital bill.  Apparently, the hospital in Keene, NH doesn't do that.

Ahh...out of the mouths of babes!  Got to love kids.

I told my wife that a husband is like a fine wine; he gets better with age. The next day, she locked me in the cellar.
