LOUISE (WALKER) HAMEL

ESSEX JUNCTION — Louise “Weezie“ Walker Hamel died unexpectedly on Aug. 7, 2008. Louise was always in motion, traveling often with family and friends and truly embraced life. She played cards, read lots of books, was always working on a craft project, chatted often with her grandchildren and friends on the Internet and loved driving her lime green VW bug. One of her happiest times of year was when she entertained her large family at Christmas time. Born in Burlington, on Jan. 11, 1929, Louise was the wife of Roland R. Hamel who predeceased her on March 1, 2003, and daughter of the late Albert and Mabel Melendy. Louise is survived by her son, Peter Hamel of Lexington, Ky.; daughter Judi and her husband, Mark Hunziker of Fairfax; her son David Hamel of Essex Junction; her daughter Sue and her husband, Robert Fletcher of Underhill; her daughter Elizabeth Negron and Tom Ritchie of Essex Junction; and her son Raymond Hamel of North Troy. Louise is also survived by her 12 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren; and her sister Helen and her husband, Allen Farrand of Scotia, N.Y. She is also survived by several extended family members and by innumerable friends and acquaintances and will be missed by all of us. Visiting hours are on Tuesday, Aug. 12, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Corbin and Palmer Funeral Home, 9 Pleasant St., Essex Junction. A mem-orial service will be celebrated on Wednesday, Aug. 13, at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Corbin and Palmer Funeral Home with interment to follow in the family lot in Resurrection Park Cemetery, So. Burlington. Memorial gifts may be made to the Humane Society of Chittenden County, 142 Kindness Court, So. Burlington, VT 05403.
