We actually had a beautiful day yesterday and I waited until after supper last night to go out and try to mow a bit of my lawn.  Maryann got her power chair and came out and watched me and also enjoyed some of that (excuse the expression Mike - "That Smell Of Fall Air").  I still had water on top of the ground under  the long grass and lots of huge green clumps from the very wet grass after I mowed, but maybe I can spread them out the next time I mow.  You can see what looks like a freshly mowed meadow beyond the first line of little Blue Spruce Trees:

Actually, Margie has come up with the reason it smells like fall.
Everything is so wet, it's rotting.
Thus, it smells like frost has hit it and it's dying and rotting, like in the fall. Except it's simply drowning.
