Can You Imagine 30 Inches Of Rain??

Thought I misunderstood when Sharon Meyer on Channel 3 Weather mentioned Tropical Storm Fay dropping 30 inches of rain.  I just can't imagine that much rain falling in this area.  I know that in the flood of 1927, Mike Cain had mentioned that in his research he found much less rain than that had fallen.

I even went up on the Internet and searched Tropical Storm Fay and it seems that one article after the other mentions the 30 inches of rain.  None of the articles say over what period of time however.

Any way you look at it, sure is a lot of water to fall, even in a week.  Up here in Vermont, we don't even get 30 inch snow storms that often.

The rainfall amount back in 1927 was 6 to 9 inches of rain that was falling on saturated land. Thus it mostly went into streams and rivers. In the mountains, they figure anywhere from 12 to 15 inches fell. That all comes down here. Thus the amount of water in the Lamoille River.
30 inches?
WE would have to consider evacuating.
