John Crane Simon

SALEM — Mr. John "Mike" Crane Simon, 75, of Salem, beloved husband of Anne "Nancy" (Sullivan) Simon, died unexpectedly at his home on Thursday, Sept. 25, 2008.

Born in Chicago, son of the late Robert and Irene (Crane) Simon, he was raised and educated in Wilmette, Ill.  Mr. Simon was the proprietor of the Fairfax Village Store in Fairfax, Vt. for many years until the time of his retirement. An honorably discharged veteran, John served his country during the Korean War as a member of the United States Army.  He had been a resident of the City of Salem for the past 20 years and was a communicant of St. James Church.  In addition to his loving wife, John is survived by his children, Lynn Simon Konigsberg and her husband Marc of Scarsdale, N.Y., Michele Mueller and her husband Jim of Bolingbrook, Ill., and John T. Simon of Fairfax, Vt.; grandsons, Joshua and Ian Konigsberg; brother, Robert Simon and his wife Rosemarie of Libertyville, Ill.; seven nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife, Shirley (Simmons) Simon on October 7, 1975.

ARRANGEMENTS: His funeral service was held from the O'Donnell Funeral Home, 46 Washington Sq. (at Salem Common) on Tuesday, September 30, 2008, at 9:15 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in St. James Chapel, Federal Street, Salem.  Relatives and friends invited. Burial in St. Mary's Cemetery, Salem. Visiting hours were Monday, September 29, 2008, from 3 to 5. For more information, please inquire at 978-744-2350.
