The whole family of Arthur & Kate (Cilly) King were brought up and lived as children at 80 Fletcher Road here in Fairfax. I purchased the house from the surviving children in 1959 - I have often wondered how those 14 kids all lived in that little house, however, suspect they were not all living there at the same time - Henry A. Raymond FRANCES KING HOLBROOK Frances King Holbrook, 98, of The Giordano Manor, 34 Canada Street, Swanton passed away Thursday, October 30, 2008, under the supervision of Roxanne Ladabouche and her staff.
She was born on, May 2, 1910, in Fairfax, Vermont the daughter of the late Arthur and Kate (Cilly) King. Frances was a lifelong resident of Swanton and a member of the Memorial United Methodist Church. She took great pride in her family and her homes. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, listening to music, and enjoying the company of her friends. Before relocating to the Giordano Manor, she was a resident of The Swanton Village Apartments on Platt Street.
On September 23, 1932, she was married to Earl Lincoln Holbrook who predeceased her on, July 12, 1989, after 57 happy years together. She was also predeceased by her nine sisters, Hilda Wetmore, Ruth Major, Marjorie Rich, Fannie Douglas, Marion Martin, Harriet Martin, Dorothy Morrill, Martha Keddy and Avis Perras; three brothers, Herbert King, Donald King and Raymond King. Frances is also survived by numerous beloved nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank Roxanne Ladabouche of the Giordano Manor and her staff for the loving care given to our Aunt Frances. Aunt Frances was very happy to be at The Manor and was always praising the staff.
A Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, November 4, 2008, at 11 a.m. from The Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Avenue, Swanton. The Reverend Doctor Marguerite C. Gage will officiate. Interment will follow at the Holbrook family lot in Riverside Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday morning from 9 a.m. until the hour of the funeral.
