Stopped by the local post office in Fairfax and mailed a couple of Maryann's Audio Books, then stopped in at the Town Office, just checking for anything new that might have turned up. Was trying to find a Sunrise Day Care that somebody had told me was located on the Sam Webb Road here in town, but didn't have any luck. If anybody knows anything about it, you can let me know as someone was thinking of applying for work there, but wasn't going to do it blindly without knowing something about them. All attempts to locate such a place have failed, although apparently there was an ad in Business Monday a couple of weeks ago.
I've heard a lot about The Georgia Market, so thought I would stop in there on my way to Burlington. Looked around and the clerks were very friendly. Looked at a number of prices and they actually seemed to be quite reasonable. Not sure how far it is from here to the end of 104a vs Essex Center or Milton.
Stopped in at Costco, where I usually see a few of my Old Retired IBM friends doing Food Demos as well as Tom Neopolitano who lives just up the road from me. These Old IBM Friends of mine really enjoy their work, it gives them an opportunity to meet people, which is something like other IBMers who work bagging groceries at local supermarkets. It gives them that outside contact and they are great at it. Always up to a little visit when you are checking out.
While I was at Costco, tried to find some computer games that Maryann was looking for, but they no longer carry them. Tried Staples later and they had some, very reasonable, $9.99, but none of those I was looking for. The guy at Staples tells me that they have a couple of places in University Mall that sell them, but when I go there, that will be a one stop deal as I find the Mall very hard to shop in with all the walking and never quite knowing where I am going.
Picked up a few groceries, then it was off for home and unload the stuff - All was well and good until I went to unload the cigarettes and found that I was short one carton. Now when you are missing a carton of cigarettes nowadays, that is no small fee. I thought, wonder what Costco will say when I call and report that I was missing a carton of cigarettes I was charged for??
I was quite surprised to find that when I called them, they told me that all I needed to do was bring my receipt in and if they would see that I got a replacement - Certainly was a relief to me. I do have to say though that I have shopped at Costco since they opened and they have always been super about everything. They truly are a great store.
I do have to say though, that getting home and finding that you are missing something you paid for, can put quite a bit of stress on you, thank God that Costco is the type of store they are.
