LAWRENCE McGOUGH


POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - Lawrence McGough, 85, of Poughkeepsie, N.Y., passed away on Tuesday, April 7, 2009, in Vassar Brothers Medical Center. Lawrence was born in Navasank, N.J. on August 18, 1923, the son of Peter A. McGough and Mary Ann Nolan. He was a graduate of Middletown, N.J. schools. On May 21, 1949, Lawrence married Therese L. Blanchet in Our Lady Of Perpetual Help in Highlands, N.J. Lawrence served in the United States Army Air Force during World War II. He worked as a machinist in Fort Monmouth, N.J. and then worked for IBM in Fishkill and Burlington, Conn. He was a member of Our Lady of Grace church in Vermont. He enjoyed collecting rocks, coins, and stamps. He was a newspaper clipper and had an interest in airplanes dating back to World War II. Lawrence is survived by his wife, Therese; his daughter, Terri Fiorillo and her husband, Mike of Poughkeepsie; sons Paul McGough of Essex Junction, Vt. and Richard McGough and wife, Pamela of Fairfax, Vt.; grandchildren Michael and Richard Fiorillo, Katina McCartney, and Eric and Evan McGough; greatgrandchildren Delanee McCartney and Kaitlyn McCartney; sisters Helen Koeppen and Lucille Anthony; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sisters Margaret Mulhearn, Anna McGough, and Theresa Larkin; and brother James McGough. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 11 at 10 a.m. in the Chapel at St. Peter's Cemetery. Burial will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery, Salt Point Turnpike, Poughkeepsie.
