IRIS (SEVERY) SMITH BEDOR

ST. ALBANS - Iris (Severy) Smith Bedor passed away Monday, April 13, 2009 in the Franklin Rehabilitation Center in St. Albans where she had resided for several years. Iris was born on Jan. 1, 1920 to Walter and Bernice Severy on the family farm in Rochester. She was predeceased by her parents, brothers and sisters: Elma, Eula, Bob, Reba, Roxie, Theo, Orel, Walter Jr. Lena Merle and Leslie. She married Richard H. Smith in 1942 and they later moved to Milton until his death in 1962. Two sons, Jimmie and Jeffrey Smith died during infancy. In 1965 she married Walter Bedor, he passed away in 1993. Iris's great sense of humor and her ability to make a superb meal when "there's nothing in the house to eat" will not be forgotten. Her humor and culinary skills has been past down to her children Linda Armstrong, Larry (Sharon) Smith, Sandy Smith, Jane (Robert) Peltier, Sheila (Ron deceased) Wimble, David (Robert Bergevin, Nancy Bedor (Ron) Lenois, Michelle Bedor (Ralph) Novelli, Brenda Bedor (Richard) Conant, and Dennis Rattee to whom lived with the Smiths. Iris leaves her grandchildren whom she loved greatly: Millie, Jim, Margaret, Jacque, Jessie, Kelly, Mathew, Erin, Jenna, and Richard; several great-grandchildren. Iris's family would like to express appreciation to the staff at Franklin Rehabilitation Center for love and care they bestowed upon her. We are planning a celebration of her life on Saturday May 2, 2009 at the Minor Funeral Home in Milton starting at 1 p.m., visiting hours on Friday, May 1, 2009 between the hours of 5 and 8 p.m. Please bring your memories, stories and pictures to share and lots of laughter for Iris.
