The car show at the Winner's Circle Restaurant Saturday afternoon
Abandon the track as rain moved in at Fonda Speedway Saturday night.
Another dusty day at Utica-Rome SpeedwayTHE WEEKEND THAT WASThe weekend started off at the Winner's Circle Restaurant with a car show. Three modifieds and four sprint cars sat out front of the place, which overlooks the Fonda Speedway.
Rain made it's appearence Saturday night for about a one hour rain delay.
After the sportsmans got done, the track was smooth and slick. Anthony hung in there and brought the car home in one piece in 16th place.
Sunday was the usual dust bowl that is Utica-Rome. Dust was flying IN HOT LAPS!
They watered the track during intermission, but then the sportsman went out and hardened the track. Anthony started 14th and went backward. At one point he was 18th. He then tried driving the corners like the other drivers, and actually held his own and made some gains. He ended up where he started, 14th.
Saturday night, Doug Emery, # 33, started on the pole and just checked out. He won for the first time in three years.
Sunday, Mike Stelter spun on the last lap, and Jessica Zemken got her first win of 2009.
Next weekend, it's on the road to western Ontario, and Ohsweken Speedway and Merrittville Speedway.
