Mary Christina Plante, 82 passed away at Green Mountain Nursing Home in Colchester on Monday June 1, 2009. She was born on February 26, 1927 in Worcester, MA daughter of the late Charles and Laura (Beaudoin) Plante Sr.. Mary graduated class of 1946 as the valedictorian from Hinesburg High School. She was also a graduate of the University of Vermont class of 1950. Continuing her education with UVM she then earned a Master's Degree in Business Education and Mathematics. She taught at many local high schools including Burlington Business College, retiring from Winooski High School. Following her retirement the remainder of her life was spent in her home in Hinesburg where she enjoyed and loved reading, her birds, gardening and studying her genealogy. Mary looked forward to family dinners and all of the precious family time during the holidays where she loved to tell stories, especially of her childhood. Mary was always ready to talk politics with anyone ready for a good debate. The family wishes to extend their deepest appreciation to the staff of Green Mtn. Nursing Home and Dr. James Ulager and staff of the Hinesburg Family Health.

Mary is survived by:  Her brother Robert Plante and wife Grace of Hinesburg;  Two sisters:  Marguerite Zywiak and husband Henry of Marcy, NY and Pauline Paquin and husband Clinton of St. Albans and many nieces, nephews.  A good neighbor Charlene VanSleet and her family.

She was also predeceased by her four brothers Charles, Albert, Laurence and Roland Plante.

No visiting hours or funeral services are planned. Inurnment will be private and at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions in Mary’s memory can be made to either St. Jude Catholic Church P.O. Box 69 Hinesburg, VT 05461 or to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital ATTN: Tribute Program 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105. Arrangements are by John D. Workman, A. W.
