Mike Joins Twitter - I Join Facebook

Mike said in his blog this morning he had joined twitter - Well after much coaxing, I have joined facebook, mainly because so many people send me links to something, usually photos and when I go to check it out, can't see anything because I am not a member and it encourages me to join.  I am very green at the whole thing and have no idea what I am doing.  All of my immediate family are members and enjoy it, so they are excited that I joined.

Somebody has to be getting some pay back as that is a huge site and it is free.  Someday when I have nothing else to do, will have to do some research and see how it got started, by who and why.

They make money by selling ads that run along the side. You put your interests in your profile, then ads petaining to you interests will always be popping up on the screen.

I read an interesting story in Rolling Stone a while back about Facebook. A college student or students came up with the idea for some campus (I think it was a well known University like Harvard or something) Anyway, the students who came up with the concept of what was supposed to be an intercampus way for students to communicate, was supposedly ripped off by the wiz kid they got to do the coding for them. He some how managed to double cross them (so the story goes) created Facebook in the image that it is on a national/global level. Took full credit and made tons of $$. According the the story I read,he  has absolutely no remorse for ripping off the idea and denies all the allegations that he ever did such a thing.
