Mary C. (Langton) Williamson
December 10, 1928 - June 14, 2009

Burlington - Mary Cynthia (Langton) Williamson, 80 died peacefully on Sunday June 14, 2009 at Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington, VT.  Mary was born in Wolcott, VT on December 10, 1928 daughter of the late Melbourne “Doc” and Hersa (Stanley) Langton.  She graduated from Cambridge High School, Sheldon Academy of Beauty Culture and also completed Floral Design School.  In her younger years, Mary was an operator for New England Telephone.  She went on to own and operate a beauty salon.  In the early 1980’s she opened the Alpine Florist which she ran for 11 years.  After selling the business she continued to have a gift and card shop for two years.  Mary was a member of the Second Congregational Church in Jeffersonville for 50 years.  She was also a member of Mansfield Chapter #45 Order of Eastern Stars and the Jeffersonville Cemetery Association.

Mary was very active in volunteer work throughout her life including church school treasurer and teacher, Girl Scout assistant leader and cookie chair, fundraiser for Cambridge Health Center and Cancer Society Daffodil Days.  Despite her advanced rheumatoid arthritis, she knit countless mittens, hats and sweaters for Shriner’s Hospitals for Children and the Baird Family Center.  She also generously donated her time and materials to make beautiful quilts for the Vermont Veterans Home and the Lund Family Center.

Mary is survived by her son, Larry R. Williamson and companion, Mary Skog of Jeffersonville, VT;  her daughter Lois B. Riegert, her husband Larry of Milton and family Matthew, Luke, Lance, and Trista.

She was also predeceased by the father of her children Marvin C. Williamson.

Per Mary's request, there will be no visiting hours. A memorial service with inurnment will be held at the convenience of the family. It was Mary's wish that those wanting to make contributions in her memory do so to either the Northern New England Office, Arthritis Foundation, 6 Chenell Drive, Suite 260, Concord, NH 03301 or the Jeffersonville Cemetery Association c/o Arlie Williamson, Treasurer, P.O. Box 334, Jeffersonville, VT 05464 or the Baird Center for Children and Families, 1110 Pine St. Burlington, VT 05401.  Arrangements are by John D. Workman, A. W.
