I am sure you have heard the term "Gopher" as a job description.  Its kind of luck you have one guy who is the head honcho and there is another guy who does all the chasing around getting this and that.  I had one of those "Gopher" jobs once, back in the days when jobs were very scarce and was more than happy to have it.

I was observing across the road yesterday as some surveyors were doing some surveying on the Al Simoneau property across the road.  I perhaps should reword that as one Engineer and one "Gopher."  It was pouring rain, as most of you that live here in Fairfax are probably aware of.  The Engineer was standing under a large unbrella and the "Gopher" was running here and there in the pouring rain.  I sent a note to my daughter Sharon, who is a Civil Engineer, as I thought she might get a kick out of it.  She sent me back an account of what actually was happening:

"The technical term for the gopher is the "Rod Man" because he is running around with the survey Rod. The guy under the canopy is the "instrument" man. Can you guess who the "junior" staff member is?"
