Things are looking up at Big Blue-- IBM in Essex Junction is hiring even more people than first planned. The plant landed several contracts this summer to make chips for consumer electronics. They planned to add 50 workers to help but they've already hired 126 and plan to up that number to 240 by the end of the year. The long-term supplemental jobs in manufacturing last for 1-to-3 years.

These are not permanent jobs - They are long-term supplemental jobs in manufacturing.
