Westford – Elaine S. Lavallee, 87 of Westford died peacefully surrounded by her family, Friday September 25, 2009 in the Green Mountain Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility in Colchester.

Elaine was born January 10, 1922 in Vernon, VT, the daughter of the late Leroy and Winona Trombley Spiller.  She was educated in Fairfax, graduating from Bellows Free Academy with the Class of 1940.  She attended Burlington Business College. Elaine was proud to have served her country with the US Coast Guard during WWII.

Elaine married Roger Lavallee on July 1, 1946 in Fairfax.  Following the war, Elaine and Roger purchased their farm in Westford in 1947, and raised a family.  In later years Elaine and Roger enjoyed traveling, camping and square dancing in various locations across the country.  They also loved getting the family together for family reunions on holidays and other family events. Roger predeceased her on August 29, 2005.

She is survived by her children: JoAnne Wilkins of Cambridge, Dennis and Marie Lavallee of Wildwood, MO., Andrew Lavallee of South Hero, Peter and Rita Lavallee of Milton, Marie and Tim Maclay of Marshfield, David and Cheryl Lavallee, Ted and Sara Lavallee, Richard and Tess Lavallee, and Becky and Andre Roy all of Westford.  34 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.  She also leaves her brother, Norman Spiller of Westford, step-brother, Larry Leach of St. Albans Bay,  brother-in-law, Laurent  and Doris Lavallee of Westford, two sisters-in-law, Gabrielle Pouliot of Kearny, Nebraska, Madeline and Shirley Minor of Westford, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

She was predeceased by two sons, Roland Theodore on December 18, 1950 and Robert Thomas on October 18, 2001.

The family wishes to give special thanks to Dr. Melisa Gibson and the staff at Green Mountain Nursing Home for the kind and respectful care given.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, September 29 at 10:30 am in St. Luke Catholic Church, Fairfax with Fr. John Feltz officiant.  Burial will follow with full military honors in St. Luke’s Cemetery in Fairfax.  For those who wish, contributions in Elaine’s memory may be made to a charity of choice.

Visiting Hours will be held on Monday September 28, from 5 to 8 pm with Vigil prayers offered by Fr. Feltz at 8 pm in the Minor Funeral Home in Milton.
