In an effort to keep the citizens of Franklin and Grand Isle Counties informed of the activity of the Troopers assigned to the ST Albans Barracks, we provide this summary of activities for the week of 1-23-2006.

Total calls for service for Franklin and Grand Isle Counties – 112

911 hang-ups investigated – 7

Accidents w/ property damage resulting – 10

Accidents w/ injury resulting – 2

Alarm responses – 5

Suspicious person complaints investigated – 19

Motor vehicle complaints investigated – 11

Thefts investigated – 4

Burglaries – 6 (one in Fletcher, two in ST Albans Town, 2 in Swanton and one in Richford)

Criminal Investigation Highlights:

In the evening hours of 1-24-2006, the Grand Isle Sheriff’s Department contacted the ST Albans barracks reference 3 Burglaries that had taken place that day in Grand Isle County.  Two had taken place in Grand Isle and one had taken place in North Hero.  At the same time, Trooper Paul Badger was investigating a report of a Burglary that had taken place in Alburg.

Later that same evening on an un-related incident, Trooper Rolandini met up with a vehicle that was parked on the side of ST Pierre Road by the Sheldon/Enosburg Town line.  In checking the welfare of the operator of the vehicle (Graziano), it was determined that Graziano did not have a license.  Further investigation led to a consent search of the vehicle Graziano was operating which found a large amount of what appeared to be stolen property (to include firearms) in the back of the truck.  Trooper Rolandini contacted Trooper Badger at the scene of his Burglary and determined that the some of the property he had found was from the Burglary Trooper Badger was investigating.

Graziano was taken into custody and transported back to the Barracks.  Further investigation led to Troopers locating Turgeon and Rheaume at a residence in East Fairfield.  Investigation found another stash of stolen property that was located inside a vehicle that was found on the property in East Fairfield.  Turgeon and Rheaume were taken into custody and transported back to the Barracks.

It was determined that at the time of Trooper Rolandini’s interaction with Graziano at road side, Turgeon and Rheaume were involved in Burglarizing another residence near by while Graziano waited in the vehicle for them to return.  This case is still under investigation and we are currently contacting local law enforcement agencies to determine possible ties to this case.
