COLLEEN STEEN – SELECTBOARD

Members of the Fairfax Community,

As a candidate for an elected position on the Fairfax Select board, I wish to share some information about myself to help you make an informed decision when you vote on March 7th.  As a native Vermonter, I moved to Fairfax approximately 35 years ago, and have served the community in several capacities, starting with organizing/teaching/chaperoning swim and ski programs for hundreds of children over a period of several years. I served on the Fairfax Rescue Squad when it was formed many years ago, and have also served on the board of directors of the Franklin County Home Health Agency, the Fairfax Planning Commission and Development Review Board. I have volunteered my services with several community agencies including the Vermont Dept. of Corrections, Franklin County Reparative Board, and United Way. Presently, I am a representative to the Regional Planning Commission, Regional Transportation Advisory Committee, Regional Brownfields Steering Committee, and the Vt. Economic Progress Council, which was formed to encourage business opportunities with tax incentives. I have physically participated in the restoration of four historic buildings in the town of Fairfax. I care about the people of our community, development, and growth with consideration for the environment, which sustains us. I have been attending Select board meetings regularly for approximately two years, and therefore am familiar with the challenges and issues we face in our community. As a retired person, I have the time and energy to devote to a Select board position and respectfully ask for your vote on March 7. I will contribute to a well functioning governing board, making consistent decisions, and serving the best interests of all members of our community.

Thank you for your consideration.
