Citizens for Fairfax Community, Inc. (CFC) 6:40 PM, 11/16/09 Meeting Minutes:
HEADLINES: ▪ Both the annual membership meeting in November and our participation in the Hunters’ Breakfast were successful, with good attendance and enthusiasm; and the promise of even bigger and better in years to come. ▪ Our next top priority must be to obtain funds to finance a comprehensive “feasibility study” to assess the repair and upgrade needs of the Baptist building. Mark will reach out to the Vermont Preservation Land Trust to find out how to proceed.
In attendance: Katrina, Mary*, Reverend Elizabeth*, Amanda*, Judi, and Mark* (* indicates Board-members) Being short of a quorum, this is a work session, rather than an official Board meeting.
Reports, discussion, and actions: ▪ Recent public activities were briefly reviewed. Both the annual membership meeting in November and our participation in the Hunters’ Breakfast were felt to have been quite successful, with good attendance and enthusiasm; and the promise of bigger and better in years to come. The idea of a monthly public meal / get-together for raising funds for the upkeep of the Baptist building seems viable, as soon as we can get it going. ▪ Katrina reported that Citizens for Fairfax Community is now on Facebook. ▪ Katrina reported on what she learned at a workshop on fundraising. In the discussion that followed, we sorted out our priorities regarding applying for building grants, a feasibility study on the Baptist building, soliciting donations, continuing to get the word out about what we’re doing, etc. It became clear that our first priority must be to obtain funds to finance a comprehensive “feasibility study” to assess the repair and upgrade needs of the Baptist building. Mark will reach out to Katrina’s contact at the Vermont Preservation Land Trust to find out how to proceed. ▪ The Fairfax Business and Professional Association will be having its second annual Christmas Tree Lighting festivities on Dec. 12, at 4:00 - 6:00 PM. We will offer our help; and may take the lead to keep the event going in coming years.
Meeting adjourned: 7:40
▪ Next Meeting: In view of the fact that some new Board members were elected in Oct, we are reassessing what day of the month will be best for our meetings. (We may alternate days of the week, so that more people can attend.) For this reason, and because of the Holidays, the date of our December meeting is yet to be decided. It will be announced as soon as we know.
Agenda in brief: o Approve Sept, Oct, Nov. Minutes o Reports on Baptist Bldg. feasibility study funding progress; and build-from-scratch options o Possible progress reports: Grant possibilities. –Katrina Logo designs -Katrina and Amanda Business plan -Amanda[/li][/list]
