Picture of the Day

The island on Mill Brook next to the covered bridge.

DECORATING THE TOWN
I took a walk around Fairfax village Sunday evening, and Christmas decorations are making their first appearences. I took a few pictures and will start posting them this week. It's hard sometimes to take a picture of decorations, because I don't want to lug around a tri-pod, and I don't want to use a flash. Some are just a touch blurry as I try to hold the camera as still as I can while the shutter stays open that extra second to get all the light.
I will be putting lights up at our house next weekend, as well as some lights around the door at the museum.

Never knew about the island - Is that photo taken from in front of the school on Hunt Street?

I am not 100%, but it may be with the old Luman property.
When the brook is low, you can walk across from the old Luman property. Over the years, high water in Mill Brook has made the shortcut a little deeper, so that water does run through most of the time.
I took the picture from up across the Town Clerk's Office in the little pull off.
I do remember one time in the summer, the Lamoille River was up so high, the water from Mill Brook had nowhere to go and the entire island had water on it.
