I am sure, especailly you commuters, have noticed that the price of gas has jumped again.  I am not sure what the price of heating oil is as we prebought again last year at $2.49.  I was quite surprised when I filled up the last time to see the jump in gas prices, but I only fill my car about twice a month.  According to Fox 44 - Blame it on the cold weather.  Crude oil prices are on the rise. Up 12 percent and more than 80 dollars a barrel:

Well Chris... I do believe Haliburton is STILL a MAIN contractor in IRAQ.  :P  lol.

Halliburton (ticker symbol HAL on the NYSE) is VERY active in Iraq.

They hire Americans starting at about $80K to work there (it's very dangerous).
They deliver the mail to our troops.
Yes, it's Halliburton that gets the kids cards to the troops for Christmas.

They also make HUGE profits on energy investments,
and the great news is that we can too,
if we want to purchase shares of HAL (under $35 per share).

But, investing is risky, stocks can and do tumble.

Shares of HAL sit in most people's 401K's.
The so-called "evil" people that own Halliburton are our teachers, postal workers, police officers and neighbors.

Does Cheney own shares ? I'd bet he still does.
Politics are ugly if people in power try to make profits for themselves.
What's in Barack's portfolio ???  Joe Biden's ???  John McCain's ???

Disclaimer: This should in no way, shape or form be construed as a recommendation to purchase stock in the aforementioned company.

I can assure you Henry that the rising price of oil and other commodities are not influenced purely on the recent cold weather.  The weak US Dollar has an impact.  Speculation on crude has increased with the deflation of the dollar.  Crude is considered a safer bet along with gold, platinum, palladium, ect...

Cold weather is an easy explanation for a complicated economic topic.
