Elizabeth J. “Betty” (Hubbell) Rye Bakersfield-Elizabeth June “Betty” (Hubbell) Rye age 83 passed away at her home on Sunday January 31, 2010 with her loving family by her side. Betty was born in Burlington on Nov. 5, 1926 daughter of the late Daniel and Helena (Dudley) Hubbell. She married the love of her life Henry “Hank” Rye on September 4, 1949 in Burlington and together they celebrated their 6Oth wedding anniversary with a party at their home this past September. She was a dedicated administrator with the Peck Agency Insurance company for many years. Betty was a devoted member and past treasurer of the American Legion Post #35. She was also a Girl Scout leader, charter member of the Fletcher Rough Riders, deer hunter and an excellent cook. But most of all in her later years Betty came to love her Bingo games. She was a familiar face with her husband Hank at area Bingo games especially Tuesday nights at the Fairfield Senior Bingo and Friday nights at the Eagles Club in Jeffersonville. Her delightful nature and personality will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her loving husband Henry “Hank” Rye of Bakersfield, Two Daughters: Edna May Cole and husband Stanley of Barre; Martha Jane Gillilan of Fletcher; Two Grandchildren: Harold Wright Jr. and wife Lisa; Margaret Cole; Four Great Grandchildren: Bruce and Sage Cole; Abigail and Hunter Wright; Two Step Great Grandchildren: Emily and Daniel Narsh; Her cousin Hazel Lawrence of Connecticut.
She was also predeceased by her son in law Raymond Gillilan on December 22, 2008 and an infant grandson.

Visiting Hours will be held at the A.W. Rich Funeral Home - Fairfax Chapel Tuesday February 2, 2010 from 5PM to 8PM. A funeral service will be held at the A.W. Rich Funeral Home - Fairfax Chapel on Wednesday February 3, 2010 at 1PM with Reverend Lynda Hadley officiating. Burial will follow in the family lot in Binghamville Cemetery, Fletcher.
