Hi All,
I understand they are putting up a Cell Tower at Al & Elaine Nichols place on The Nichols Road. If you happen to have your camera and are going by and can get some photos, email them to me and I will put them up and give you credit.

I just talked with Al and he tells me that T-Mobile is the one putting it up. Sounds like they will be putting a number of antennas on the tower. Most likely they will sell their services. Al told me that it was contractors putting up the antenna, so they aren't too knowledgeable about the details.
I will stop and see if I can get a decent picture and someone else is looking at it too, so we should have some photos of it by tonight.

Henry,
I drove by the cell site location yesterday. There was and excavator doing some digging, I assume for the concrete foundation.
The contractor was not from Franklin County.

Hi Henry, Here are 3 pictures of the cell tower going up. At this point it looks about half done and I don't think I can get any more photos due to the sun. IMG_2006 is the crane putting on the second segment of tower, IMG_2015 is workers hooking up an antenna that was just lowered on top (there're a couple of brave souls). I took a few photos on my way to the city, however Amanda's were taken a little later. Al came out and talked with me and told me he thought there were going to be four sections going up. Amanda's last photo shows two of them up and when I took mine there was only one up and they were assembling the second one on the ground. You can view a slide show of all the photos by clicking on the following link: http://www.vtgrandpa.com/photos/slideshow.php?set_albumName=t-mobile_100209

Boy that went up fast! Was out there around 2 and didn't see anything from our backyard(formerly Magnans). Just out there at 5pm and looks like it's all up. Couple of folks still working at the top. Hope this finally gives us the signal we've been lacking up here!

I don't think they're done. I read the tower was to be 100' tall and this looks about 60 feet. Many cell towers have antennae half-way up as well as on top, that could be what's been installed today.
