An alleged drunk driver caused some serious damage at a Burlington landmark early this morning.

A minivan slammed into QT's on North Winooski Avenue at 2:25 a.m. A witness, who lives next to the former Dairy Queen, called crews to the scene after reportedly hearing a loud boom. He says the driver and a passenger both seemed intoxicated at the time of the crash.

Kathryn Goguen, who owns the seasonal snack bar, says it appears the crash caused at least $50,000 in damages.

"For an old girl she took the hit pretty well," Goguen said while surveying the damage to her business. "She's been here since 1945."

Goguen says she plans to re-open, as planned, in the spring.

Both men in the car were taken to the hospital with minor injuries. Police say charges are pending and alcohol appears to be a factor. Their names have not been released.
