MILDRED ‘MILLIE’ I. WATSON

FAIRFAX - Mildred “Millie” I. (Stinson) Watson passed away on Friday morning, Feb. 12, 2010, at home with her daughter and son-in-law, Lynne and Jeffrey Paarz, by her bedside.

Millie was born in McKees Rocks, Pa. on Aug. 14, 1919, daughter of Arthur and Irene Stinson. On July 31, 1937, Millie eloped with the love of her life, Robert (Bud) Watson. Millie and Bud raised their family in Newtown Square, Pa. Bud predeceased her in 1994.

Millie was very active in her community. She was a life member of the American Federation of Women’s Clubs, where she sang in their choral group and participated in their garden club. She was a member of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church for over 40 years. She especially enjoyed her hobby of china painting. Her love of books and literature led to a career as a library assistant at the Marple Public Library, in Broomall, Pa. In 2002, she moved to Fairfax, Vt., to live with her daughter and son-in-law. She soon became an active member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church and made many friends in the Outreach Circle Women’s Mission Group.

In addition to Lynne and Jeff, her daughter, Careen Lehman Kubica and husband, Frank Kubica, of Highlands, N.J., and a son, Keith Watson and wife, Beth, of West Chester, Pa., survive Millie. There are six grandchildren: David Paarz and fiancée, Karen Walsh, of Wakefield, Mass., John Paarz of Fairfax, Vt., and Melanie Dattilio and husband, Chris, and Meredith McClellan and husband, John, of Essex Junction, Robert Lehman and wife, Louraine, of Hazlet, N.J., and Kenneth Lehman and wife, Anne Sophie, of Long Branch, N.J. A grandson, Douglas Lehman, predeceased Millie in 2003. Millie was especially proud to be a great-grandmother to Henry, Sophia, and Will Paarz, Cameron and Caitlin McClellan, Sofia and Chloe Lehman, Alicia Lehman Chuculate and James Lehman and newborn, Teddy Dattilio; as well as a great-great-grandmother to Emma Lehman and Gunner Chuculate. A brother, Russell Stinson and wife, Rita, of Wilmington, Del. and several nieces and nephews also survive Millie.

The family would like to thank Franklin County Home Health and special friends, Shirley, Bonnie, Theresa, and Trish, for the excellent care she received during her long illness.

A memorial service will be celebrated on Saturday, March 6, 2010, at 11 a.m. at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, St. Albans. Pastor Herman Benjamin will officiate.

Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider a donation in Millie’s name to St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 11 Church St., St. Albans, 05478; or to the Arthritis Foundation, P.O. Box 917, Rocky Hill, CT 06067-0917.
