I see they have the loader for sale. Are they consolidating, upgrading, or going out of business? Anyone know? I hope they're staying around!!

I look for the best price on everything. Last year there were more businesses selling mulch than I have ever seen before in this area. The pricing was very differnt at each location and they were all within 10-miles of Fairfax.

Sweet Pea's on Route 104 near Cambridge has always had good prices on mulch. It's on the left as you are heading towards Cambridge. She has a sign on the side of the road, so you'll know where to turn off.

I haven't looked into it this year. Last year a friend told me about this place and we were both very happy. As I recall, it was less than Swanson's Nursery last year. That was the reason why we both went with this place off of the Fletcher Road.

Hi Henry On your thread for Swanson's Nursery... I followed Chief Potter's advice, and found Ed's Excavating. Ed delivered a truckload of compost the same evening. The cost was $25 a yard and $50 for delivery. It is organic compost. Looks pretty good. He also has mulch, but don't know the price. A very courteous, pleasant, young man. JoAnne  |

Not to rain on the bulk mulch parade but I am a fan of bagged mulch - less mess, then recycle the bag. J&L is running a special right now 3 bags of regular cedar mulch for $10.00. 9 bags equal a yard or 30.00 a yard. Plus there is no delivery fee since you pick it up yourself. May take a couple of trips depending on vehicle but could be worth it in the end. Just food for thought...............

I use a lot of mulch for my business so bulk is really the only way to go, much more efficient and easier on the back! Although depending on size of job, I do use bagged..but thats the exception in my situation.
